playground?

So one dictionary says the definition of playground is "a piece of land used for and usually equipped with facilities for recreation especially by children", how about this place?

fun in winter

it is freezing here. it is windy here. it is raining here. it is winter here.
It is only the beginning of July. I don't know how I will survive the rest of this winter.
Every morning, I don't want to get out of my bed that I warmed up all night with my double doonas.
While my complaining continued throughout the week, my little boy didn't have a nice week either.
He refused eat much for about two weeks. Which I think I have some partial explanation for his behaviour. I noticed he was cutting a huge molar while I was brushing his teeth. Other clues were vomiting and diarrhea. So he stayed with me, and we didn't do much outside the house. Since Friday, he started to look and behave a lot better, so I thought we could do something in our backyard. Our next door neighbour has this beautiful giant oak in their backyard. While it creates such a wonderful shade around summer time with the leaves, the amount of leaves that fall down is almost infinite through autumn to winter! How do I know so well? It is because our house is also sharing some of the fallen leaves too! I read somewhere that those leaves are great sources for the healthier soils, so I had let them fall and make themselves at home. Then I found somewhere that I can actually make some mulch out of them. Although I was not so fascinated about the task, I knew someone who would love it. MY SON! And I was right. As soon as I told him, "Lets collect all the leaves and put them in this rubbish bag." he got so excited. I never had that kind of great help from anyone with my gardening, i think. ;) We managed to collect most of them, and Jakob had another course of fun puncturing the bag.

The next task was with the lemon tree. I liked the idea of having the lemons on the tree, and pinch one or two as I need. That was ideal. The reality was that those beautiful lemons were getting damaged by the frost! So on that friday afternoon, we also accomplished the lemon rescue.

And on saturday morning, Jakob and his dad went to the zoo! Before they went, he talked about all the animals he saw when we went there last. The funniest one was about the penguins. He said the penguins at the zoo didn't dance like the "movie penguins", but they just ate their lunch. The movie penguins he was referring to were the Happy Feet's. And when we saw the penguins last, it was during their feeding time. So everything he said was all true.

Jakob looked like he had a great time with his dad at the zoo this morning. He was so happy and full of beans when he returned. Apparently his dad got him a quiche at the zoo and watched the monkeys while he was eating. Sounds like pretty fun.

Not sure whether the gardening or visit to the zoo cured him. This afternoon, our funny and active Jakob was back! He played well, enjoyed his dinner, and danced. now he  is asleep getting ready for tomorrow.

BIG BED

Jakob graduated from his first bed (cot) today. The cot's been used from the day one he arrive our home. I remember the first day he was in that cot. He was so tiny that the bed looked ridiculously big. Now after 33 months, the bed is too small for him! He seems quite happy about his new "big bed" so far. When the truck man dropped it early this morning while he was eating his breakfast, he was so excited and kept on singing about Santa. It was like a Christmas day today for him. So here it goes, more bedtime journeys with his new bed.
